Few things have experienced more of a surge in popularity than the quiet, quaint city of Brookhaven in the past three years. With significant development showing no halt, this neighborhood-turned-city has quickly become a more affordable, laid back alternative to the bustling Buckhead community.
So what is it that draws people in (ourselves included) and has houses on the market selling quicker than water and bread before a snow day in Atlanta? Below are a few highlights from our own personal list of what makes this charming city of Brookhaven not only livable, but lovable.
Conveniences of the City
Still very much what most would consider part of ‘the city’ or ‘ITP’, the Brookhaven community offers the perks one would hope for given it’s in town location, while maintaining characteristics some feel you would normally have to move to the suburbs for- such as reputable public schooling.
Living in Brookhaven, it is not outside the norm to start your day off with the family or your four legged companion at one of the various public parks within the community and end it at one of the many fine dining choices at your fingertips. While city developers and business owners have covered almost all of your wants and needs- it is just as easy to hop on the Brookhaven MARTA station and get to any of the nearby in town attractions or hot spots…and that’s a huge plus!
Certainly not fit for families only, Brookhaven is quickly growing its portfolio of young professionals who have chosen to call this home. With excellent new restaurants, bars and pubs entering the scene every day (many within walking distance to newest multi-unit housing developments) there is no mystery as to why. Here are some of our top picks when it comes to the ‘nosh’ scene:
- Kaleidoscope Bistro & Pub
- The One Sushi
- There Brookhaven
- Noche Tequila & Tapas Bar
- Savi Urban Market
Sense of Community
Quickly gaining a reputation of ‘upscale living in a traditional neighborhood’, what is more traditional and vital in a community than an actual sense of being and belonging within that community? To date, Brookhaven has done an admirable job of welcoming committees and organizations who have hosted a myriad of 5k’s and festivals within the city. Tapping into what speaks to the people that live here, both families and professionals alike- it is never difficult to find a way to race, socialize or get involved with an event that is planned for a worthy cause…or even just for fun. Some of our favorites include:
- Big Peach 5k Run/Walk for Blood Cancer- 5/3/14
- Brookhaven Bolt 5k- 5/17/14
- Brookhaven Beer Fest- 6/7/14
- Atlanta SoccerFest & 5k (outdoor world cup viewing party)- 6/22/14
- Brookhaven Arts Festival- Oct ‘14
In addition to the events above that help bring the community together, Brookhaven is home to historic Oglethorpe University (hosting year round productions by Georgia Shakespeare Company) and Capital City Country Club- both adding another facet of charm and attraction to this highly desirable neighborhood.
If you’re not a member of the Brookhaven community just yet, but are now convinced it’s the place for you- please allow us to take this opportunity to offer a most sincere personal plug and extend one of our beautiful custom home projects (currently underway) as your future dream residence.
